Kishida to lead LDP, likely to become Japan's new PM

Japan's former Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida (pictured) won on Wednesday the leadership post in the country's ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and is thus likely to succeed Yoshihide Suga as Japan's prime minister.
Kishida beat vaccination minister Taro Kono in a runoff after former internal affairs ministers Sanae Takaichi and Seiko Noda were eliminated in the first round of voting in the party election.
